The program is a chronological pictorial overview of the history of communications technology, ranging from tribal drumming to satellite transmission. It illustrates key technological developments used to convey messages and information such as written word, printing, telegraphy, photography, telephone, phonograph, motion pictures, radio, television, computers and satellites. The pacing accelerates as the program progresses toward the present, and explodes into a montage of the bewildering array of technologies converging in contemporary life.
