Charles McKinney, Professor of History and Chair of the Africana Studies Program at Rhodes College in Memphis, TN lays out the reasons why protest and other types of political engagement are essential in today’s society. Additionally, Dr. McKinney engages in a conversation with the audience about how the #BlackLivesMatter movement is a crucial new element in a centuries-long struggle for equality and justice.
